Literature Review of Illegal Logging and Associated Trade

Miao Dongling

School of Economics and Management, Beijing Forestry University, Beijing 100083, China

The paper reviewed the directions and progress of the research on illegal logging and associated trade, and concluded the major research approaches and conclusions based on the reviews of the evolving process of this issue. Illegal logging and associated trade is an issue with multi-faceted and multi-dimensional characteristics, and its scope has been gradually expanding. There are more studies on the macro level than on micro level, which involve the definition and dimensions of illegal logging, with the coverage on its scale, driving factors, impacts, governance and effects, while few studies have been made on the theory and empirical research at enterprise level. The methods such as GFPM, EFI-GTM and semi-structured interview are widely used in the empirical research on its influence and governance.
