Identification of Ecological Protection and Restoration Patterns in Agricultural Heritage Sites Based on the Concept of Life Community

【Objective】 To construct an ecological security pattern for the world heritage site of Hani in Yuanyang County, and provide a basis for delicacy management of natural resources in agriculture culture heritage site. 【Method】 Taking the agricultural heritage site located in Yuanyang County as the study area, this research integrates ecosystem service importance, ecological sensitivity, and landscape connectivity to identify ecological source areas based on the concept of life community. An ecological resistance surface is constructed based on the reciprocal of habitat quality, and circuit theory is applied to delineate ecological corridors and their critical nodes, thereby establishing the ecological security pattern for the region and proposing corresponding ecological improvement measures. 【Result】 1) There are 180 ecological sources in Yuanyang, covering 552.8 km2 (24.98% of the total area), and they are predominantly distributed in state-owned forest farms of southern and western regions, representing ecosystem service hotspots and sensitive areas; and 2) A total of 323 ecological corridors (totally 717.93 km long) are identified, which ensure the connectivity between ecological sources. There are 91 ecological pinch points (5.49 km2) located between ecological corridors as priority conservation areas, and 100 ecological barrier points (3.45 km2) at the peripheries of ecological corridors or the edge of ecological sources. Accordingly, multi-level restoration zones are delineated. 【Conclusion】 An integrated conservation-restoration framework is established featuring an integration of one ecological belt, two development axes, six functional zones, and multiple core areas with green mountains, lucid waters, forests and farmlands as foundation. This provides an applicable technological framework of systematic identification-spatial optimization-pattern delineation for agriculture culture heritage preservation, which is helpful for the coordinated development of ecological conservation, culture heritage and economic vigor.
